Scott Wirkus - Co-Host
contact

Scott Wirkus, co-host |
Scott Wirkus' story is that of the American Dream. Only in America
could a boy grow up in the midwest, waste most of his life as a
musician in the Midwest club scene (such as it is), work at the
printing plant responsible for Playboy Magazine and then discover
that he is virtually unemployable. Scott realized he was really only
qualified to hold one job faithfully for his entire life. And only
in America could Scott actually have found that job -- co-host of
the Dan & Scott Show (for Scott's musician friends who are
reading this, Scott is the "Scott" in the Dan & Scott
Show). As far as Scott's claim to fame in the music world goes, his
band, Pagan, once opened for the band Nazareth at a roller rink in
Wisconsin. Yes, it was hard for Scott to tear himself away from that
kind of life -- full of celebrities, glamour and roller skates --
but he did it.
A natural friggin smartass, Scott feels the transition to comedy was
a logical one.
"The show gives me a chance to do something different, like eat
regularly," Wirkus said.
Scott's family is obviously quite proud, though they could not be
reached for comment, and it appeared they left no forwarding address
or telephone numbers.
What Wirkus brings to the show, in addition to his lucky ham, is a
talent for knowing what sounds good, "cuz I can hear stuff
really loud."
Co-host Dan Schulz capsulized what Scott's role on the show has
been.
"Scott makes me look good," said Schulz. "Scott and I
have been good friends for more than 15 years. He is truly one of
the funniest guys I know. And he still pays for the pizza a lot. You
know, you can't put a price tag on that kind of friendship, although
I know it's saving me at least 2 bills a month!"
Off the air, Scott is generally a quiet guy, which means he is
probably one of those scheming bastards who is always on the edge of
going postal. We give him a wide berth, especially after he watches
Ally McBeal. He can go on some wicked tears after that freak show.
"Scott has his hands full on the show," said Tim Meyer, a
media consultant and professor of communications and electronic
media in Green Bay (which makes us wonder, when he goes to
graduation, does he wear a mortar board, or does he just wear one of
those damn cheese-head things). "It takes someone with a
level-head and a quick sense of humor to be able to rein in Dan
Schulz. They are a great combination reminiscent of (Chicago
broadcast legends) Steve Dahl and Garry Meier."
Who? Ah, never mind.
So, what's the show about?
"We are just two guys having fun for a few of hours each
night." Wirkus said.
Today, Scott can be found on the radio in Wisconsin.
